DONATE A BACKPACK PROGRAM
What's the Program?
This is usually one of our fun end of Year Programs but this Year we are changing it up a little bit and running the Program in SPRING.
The DONATE-A-BACK Program is designed to support our Education Program. The Program is about donating Backpacks made in Africa, filled with School supplies bought in Africa in line with the school curriculum to school kids in
Africa.
A single backpack costs $15 - $20 only.
We call on YOU to help us IGNITE the dreams of hundreds of
kids in Africa through a simple BACKPACK.
In our inaugural year in 2010 we targeted Kianyambo High School in rural Kenya and we supplied 110 Backpacks to all the kids in the school.
This year our goal is 5 times bigger and we are going for 500 Backpacks.
WHY?
- A simple backpack with school supplies is enough to create a spark that
jumps starts a kids deep interest in education, changing their lives
forever.
- Most adults still do remember
their first math set, text books, fountain pen & backpack.
WHEN?
- This SRING Program will run from March 1 through June 30th 2012.
WHO?
- This program targets about 500 Elementary School Kids schools in Kenya.
WHERE?
-
Donations of $15 - $20 per backpack will be collected and received in America.
- The Backpacks are locally made in Kenya and the supplies too bought in Kenya - helping grow the local economy and saving on shipping costs and time. (We did a test here in the US and an equivalent backpack with supplies runs $70 plus shipping)
HOW?
- Donations for the Backpacks are received from March - June 2012.
- The Backpacks and supplies are
purchased and packed in Kenya and handed out to the kids in the first week of Term 3 in September.
- Saving us time and money in shipping fees making the program almost real time which helps us give you the DONOR quicker feedback on progress on the ground..
Join us as we seek to reach out to 500 KIDS this Year. We need your support.
